Other things I learned that did not make it to the drawing board:
Zoloft might be my new best friend.
I’m over the concept of a “dream job” (and I have many thoughts about it which I will probably write and/or draw soon).
Buying rollerblades does not mean that I will rollerblade often once the novelty wears off. Haaa. (Working on it.)
And! Much! More!
Some links that contributed to my summer learning!
This is the third newsletter in which I have referenced the truly astounding Chocolate Cream Pie with Oreo Crust recipe, so if that doesn’t say something about what a core memory making and eating it was, then I don’t know.
Someone I love turned me onto the Enneagram a few months ago and the more I learn about it, the more it blows my mind (I tried it in the past but it never clicked till now). It’s not your run-of-the-mill personality test. It’s genuinely helpful for understanding yourself and others. So far, The Enneagram Institute is my favorite site for learning more. I also loved Mari Andrew’s thoughts about each of the Enneagram types.
This Cup of Jo post about what people love about where they live is simultaneously heartwarming and extremely informative. Don’t miss the comment section — it is gold!
I appreciated this piece about why Hawaiian sovereignty has undeniable context for the Maui fires. (And Lahaina continues to need support. This article is a great roundup of where to donate.)
I’ve always had a love of keeping journals and notebooks, but I fell out of practice over the past few years. I loved this write-up from Katherine May about how to keep a writer’s notebook.
I’m constantly collecting links, words, visual inspiration, etc., and I’ve tried all sorts of systems for keeping track of it all. I somehow stumbled onto mymind, a private (and pretty!) smart bookmarking tool powered by AI. I’ve been experimenting with the freemium version and I am a fan. It makes saving and organizing inspiration incredibly fast and easy. (I get nothing from sharing this other than the joy of sharing good things!)
THERE ARE SO MANY MORE THINGS AND LINKS I COULD SHARE, but I’ll stop there. I’d love to know: What did you learn this summer? What contributed to your learning?
Until next time,
Maryn (is here)
Love the drawings and all the sharing!
Love love love!! This post filled me up with joy. My enneagram four brain really could just copy and paste all your thoughts into mine and they'd be identical. Hah!
