Love love love all of this. I want to try that needle point company in the photo! Finding community can oftentimes take longer than the mind wants - or in contrast to the random deadline expectation it sets. So wonderful are all the experiments and explorations you're engaging in - go you! Based on all of my clients' experiences with moves and my personal experience - I find it takes at least 1.5 years to really feel the community flow after moving someplace new. Give yourselves so much space and grace! We miss you at CMRVA but are so so so glad that you're finding a new creative home at CMCHI!

Ooh yes, if you do try Unwind Studio let me know. The kits are somewhat spendy but we've found them to better quality than others we've tried.

Thank you so much though 😊 I'm really working on being patient and trusting the process, but that one and a half year mark sounds about right! I think I put more pressure on myself here in Chicago since this move was such a big choice for us and I want it to feel as good as possible as soon as possible, but that's not realistic. I appreciate the reminders to give myself some grace! Missing you and grateful for you always ❤️

Lovely writing as always. I am impressed that you cancelled your Amazon account. I am so peopled out after a day of teaching that I struggle to want to face any more humans, but my heart is with you! Thanks for sharing so much beauty!

Oh yes, I should have prefaced this with the fact that I've been working remotely for seven years and am often hungry for more human interaction! I forget that isn't always the case for others. Thank you so much <3

Way to be so intentional and proactive in finding community and what you love!

Gracie and Monet would get along so well! Gracie loves, loves, loves people and has helped us get to know lots of neighbors! ❤️

Thank you!! Unfortunately Monet's love does not extend to dogs (she tolerates them), but I'm sure she'd love to race Gracie to get first belly rubs. ;-)

Chicago Craft Club sounds so great!! I also keep noting needlepoint as a want-to-try whenever you share about it!

It sounds like you're on the right track for finding community--I feel like most of the things I feel embedded in now are a result of me showing up and hanging around for a reallllly long time. (The first few months of going to the climbing gym, I'd hightail it to the bathroom first, just because I felt a little nervous about walking right in to climb and it helped to have a little buffer time before jumping in!)

You're so right — so much of it boils down to consistency and time! I'm learning a lot of patience over here. :) I wish we could go to Craft Club together!!
