Let’s pretend this is an actual holiday card I sent in the mail! With all the traditional parts.
The Year in Review Part
It’s honestly not super often that I have a hankering to doodle (sadly), so I had to listen to my recent hankering. Here is the result: a little doodle of some things representing my year. This is very obviously not to scale — or maybe my antidepressant prescription bottle is the same size as my rollerblades in real life. I guess you’ll never know.
The pictured objects starting from the top left:
Magnets eaten by Monet, our dog (not pictured: the items included in her stomach surgery recovery) // The first cyanotype I made // A beret worn to the Barbie movie // My master’s diploma // An intentionally wonky vase I handbuilt in a class (I’m learning to embrace my limitations) // My beloved Oreo chocolate cream pie (NYT gift link) // A pearly purse I bought to feel fancy at a dear friend’s NYC wedding // The Nintendo Switch we bought mid-year that reawakened my love for video games // Tank top glory // Brain meds (shout-out Adderall and antidepressants) // First-time hair bleaching // Rollerblades to connect with my inner child // Tarot cards as part of my evolving spirituality // A boarding pass, most notably to Singapore and Japan to celebrate Freddy’s brother’s wedding
The Faces Part
We really need some proper, updated photos but these will do for now! Is Monet not the most perfect little furball? (She is in fact.)
The Best Wishes Part
In all sincerity, thank you so much for being here and for taking the time to read about my life. It means a lot. I hope 2024 is a year of light, growth, and contentedness for you and yours.
You are freaking adorable. I love how you lean into wonky and self-acceptance. That's what I have......wonky self-acceptance. Thanks for sharing!
Happy Holidays, Maryn! Love the year in review doodles (the beret is my favorite) and the sharing you do here. Wishing you and yours a peaceful and abundant transition into the new year.
